Fractured Contracts was originally accepted into a juried show as Sacred Promises but when the unthinkable happened and it was regretfully returned in 100 broken pieces, the decision was made to reassemble and rediscover a newer, deeper purpose for the existence of this piece. "Promises" will continue to be broken, even the sacred ones in spite of best intentions. No contract is perfect, flawless or even agreeable to everyone. The manifestion of Fractured Contracts now carries with it a question for us that continues to remain a personal one. Can we learn to embrace the beauty of the "whole" and look beyond the fractured lines, which was once a pile of hopeless rubble? Can we bring ourselves to live with enough compassion to look beyond our fractured differences to see our unified grace.... imperfections and all?
